Casoni
The peculiarity of the lagoon fishermen
The “Casoni” of the Marano lagoon are the typical fishermen's houses that were once used as a shelter during the fishing trips.
Set among the sandbank channels they are a typical example of spontaneous architecture, since were built of natural local materials, such as wood for the supporting parts and lagoon reeds for the roofs.
These houses are today an interesting tourist and gastronomic destination, as well as an opportunity to enjoy the scents and the landscapes of the lagoon.
