Udine

The heart and symbol of Friuli; its medieval and venetian past is still alive in its squares, buildings and monuments.

The city centre, the "Freedom Square", is dominated by the castle hill and characterized by the Lionello Loggia and the magnificent beIl tower. It is called "the most beautitul venetian square on the mainland".

In the palazzis and churches you can admire many wonderful art works of the artist Giovanbattista Tiepolo (l8th century) and this is the reason why Udine is also called the "liepolo town".
